Hello! My name is Mike and I'm a bit of an "Ink Guru".
5 years ago I told HP and Epson to INK MY PRINTER! and I never bought another name brand ink cartridge again, although I print everyday. Most people would agree that ink cartridges are overpriced, they just don't know what to do about it.
That's why I've built this site... In the state of the economy now, people need to find ways to save money, as I have.
If you're wanting to save money on printing, but not quite sure how to go about it, please allow me to outline the 5 options that you have to save money on printing. I've used them all...
1) Ink Cartridge Refill Kits...
This is the least expensive way to save money on printing. HP, Lexmark, Dell and Canon ink cartridges are simple to refill and require little to no skill. Typically, these cartridges are refilled through holes in the cartridges that are already there and don't require any kind of drilling or "hole making". Some require you to pop the top off of the cartridge, but that's not difficult at all.
Epson is another story. Epson intentionally makes their cartridges very difficult to refill and if you want to save money printing with an Epson printer, you need the next option...
2) Refillable Ink Cartridges...
These are generally made for Epson and Brother printers. Simply pull a rubber plug out of the top of the cartridge, inject ink and replace the plug. It's really that easy and once you've tried it, you'll wonder why you didn't think of the idea yourself. Most refillable ink cartridges for Epson and Brother printers can be refilled while the cartridges are STILL IN the printer. Very convenient. Refillable cartridges are very inexpensive and are listed right here, on my site.
By the way, refillable ink cartridges have what are called "Auto Reset Chips". These are chips that reset the ink level monitor on your computer (and in the printer) back to FULL, automatically. So, no worrying about low ink warnings! Auto Reset Chips are also found on your next money saving option...
3) Continuous Ink Supply Systems... (my personal favorite)
If you do a lot of printing, a CIS System is the least expensive and the most time saving way to go. The ink cartridges in your printer will draw ink automatically from sealed bottles of ink that sit beside your printer. They look really weird at first glance if you've never seen a CIS System before. Don't let the idea intimidate you.
Installation: Normally takes about 10 minutes. The cartridges are inserted in the cartridge slots, the tubes arranged with a simple bracket and the ink reservoir bottles are placed beside the printer.
A CISS is easy to maintain as well. Refilling the ink bottles about once a year for the average home user is all that is required. That sounds to good to be true, I know - what would it feel like to only have to add ink to a bottle once a year? No more ink cartridges to buy - print all you want. Refill ink is very inexpensive as well!
You would be surprised at the number of professional photographers that use CIS Systems everyday to lower photo printing costs. They really do work.
4) Generic Ink Cartridges...
These are new cartridges that are made by companies other than the printer manufacturer. You'll find these for Epson, Canon and Brother printers that do NOT have the printhead built into the ink cartridge.
The print quality varies from one cartridge maker to another. These are all made in Asia and are best suited for text or document printing. Not recommended for photo printing. (Epson has banned the import of generic Epson compatible cartridges - they won't be available in the US much longer.)
5) Remanufactured Cartridges...
These are used cartridges that have been taken apart, cleaned and have their inner parts replaced with new aftermarket parts. These are available for HP, Lexmark and Dell printers.
(Note: With Epson banning the import of generic/compatible cartridges, remanufactured Epson ink cartridges are becoming more common. We've still got Epson compatibles available though for the time being.)
HP, Lexmark and Dell remans are generally remanufactured in the United States by small "refill" companies. They usually do a great job and most of these companies go so far as to test each individual cartridge before packaging.
Use the search bar or the navigation links on the left to find ink products for your printer.
I also have live ads provided by google on either side of the site that refresh on each page to show you items for the printer that you've searched for.
Thank you so much for using my site!
Best Regards,
Mike
